Unconfirmed support
These printers are believed to work with fully free operating systems. However, the Free Software Foundation has not tested any of them in their offices. If you own any of these devices and can confirm they work with gNewSense please move the printer to the confirmed section. Furthermore, if the printer only partially functions (e.g. scanner does not work with SANE) please report that as well.

Hewlett-Packard is the best supporter of free printers and offers free printer drivers through HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and Printing). HP maintains a list of supported printers on their website. In theory any of these printers should work in a fully free operating system as long as it does not require a proprietary plugin (column 8 on list). If you have successfully tested any of these printers on gNewSense please add the printer to the confirmed printer list.
