I am a supporter of
free software...
To find out more about free software take a look at Richard Stallman's
book “Free Software Free Society”, as well as http://www.fsf.org/ and
http://www.gnu.org, also read about the issues primarily at the
philosophy pages of the GNU Project but also in the
essays section of fsf.org.
Also check out the pages of you local FSF such as
FSF Europe,
FSF Latin America,
FSF India, FSF France, and see how you can help them.
Get involved in a local
Free software or GNU/Linux users group, see the
FSF's wiki to get in
touch with other free software activists in your area.
You too can support free software by:
- Signing a petition against Microsoft's Office OpenXML becoming an ISO standard.
- If you are in the US phone your senators' offices at 202-224-3121 to oppose the US-Peru “Free Trade” Treaty. It requires software patents and something like the DMCA. (Not to mention other harmful effects on other areas of life.)
- Supporting the FSF by making a donation, becoming an associate member or volunteering take a look at GNU's Taking Action page.
